car still seems to burn alot of oil; switch to synth? ->
I'm taking it in for service next week and will have them check it out. Should I go ahead and switch to synthetic at this point?
TIA!
but it should help and is probably a good long term idea for any car, but in particular, a turbocharged engine that may run a little hotter and work a little harder than a low-revving NA car.I change mine every 5k...who knows if that is too much or too little, but I'm comfortable with that frequency...not comfy with 10k.
As a note, unlike Finman, I am following the Audi maintenance schedule (I'm much too lazy
and have not had an oil change since 10K. I'm going in soon for my 20K.
If you're still using the original oil, then what you say makes perfect sense, as it seems that oil burns more than regular (non running-in) oil.
Don't ask me why I haven't got a clue
