I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a squeaking/creaking lumbar support [more]

Default I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a squeaking/creaking lumbar support [more]

At almost 20k miles, the lumbar support in my driver's seat creaks. It's not the whole seat; it's not the seat back; it's definitely the air bladder or whatever the bladder is mounted to. I haven't approached the dealer about this yet, but would like some ammo from the forum first. Thanks.

Had that too, but it turned out to be my lower back not the seat

Default I have the same thing. I've got a service app't coming up. We'll see.

Do you have the non-sport seats? (I do.) I've found the creak is particularly bad when the car interior is cold; fading as it gets warmer.

You might try putting a little talcum powder between the seatcover and the bladder

Mine's not a fabric/leather rubbing. It's definitely mechanical. (Talcum prob. voids warranty!)

Default The creaking is the metal support pieces that hold the back of the seat in place...

If you slide your hand between the seat-back bolster and the central part of the seat-back, you will feel these metal support "rods". The seat back is "loosely" fitted in place and sewn in place from above and below, but not from the sides (at the bolster area)...it is this pushing of the seatback against the support rods that causes the creaking. Mine went away on the driver's seat after ~1000 miles, but the passenger seat still has it...it is a little crunchy sensation. My assumption has been that it is because my wife doesn't weigh very much and hasn't broken the seat in enough...but I'm not sure that's true.

Someone last year said they had the seat rebuilt and it went away. I'm not sure of the mechanism, but it seems logical that a knowledgeable "seat guy" should be able to adjust those support rods.

Good luck

Yeah, I've got my 41-year service coming up, and that's one of my complaints, too :-(

Default Mine creaks too, but I have found that

if I leave it pumped up a little it stops. Over time the air slowly leaks out so I need to re-pressurize it periodically. (I assume it's air rather than mechanical).

Do you have sport seats? I don't, and the seam between the side bolsters and the seat back is closed

Please let me know what the dealer says. Thanks.
