Default Two more S6 revelations...

1. (not S6 specific) The solar sunroof should allow you to open the shade while keeping the roof closed. I realize there is some solar stuff in the glass, but it would still allow some light in. I didn't realize the solar sunroof would make it impossible to have the shade open but the roof closed Not a huge deal, but...

2. The ContiSportContacts are not enough for this car. Got to put another 200 miles on it today and gave it a bit of a tossing through some twisties and around on/off ramps of the highway. I am EXTREMELY pleased with how firm and flat the suspension is (a substantial improvement over the already pretty damn good for a 4000 pound sedan, 4.2 suspension) and how there is virtually zero body roll, and how "light on its feet" this S6 feels compared to the 4.2...BUT, the Contis are the weak link...they were squealing like a pig and although it felt like the car wanted to push harder, it was too easy to reach the limit of the tires. In a few months, I'll probably be looking to get some with some extra nad than these

Default You mean you have an "unusable" moonroof? The solar stuff is attached to the shade?

That's too bad. I guess your glass moonroof is just protecting the solar cells?

Does the "raise the backend" function work "normally"?

Default Yes...

the solar stuff is embedded in the glass and the glass is affixed to the alcantara covered shade...the tilt works as before except the shade also bends and contorts to accomodate the raising glass...quite odd...but the moonroof feature is gone

Default Although I am not a fan of ContiSC's your tyres are still too new and need some more wear. They will

scream for the rest of their life like piglets which is louder than pigs and higher pitched by the way
As you put more miles on the Conti's you will notice a better grip.
When they eventually become a bit slippery, swap them back to front and then they seem not to slip so much anymore.
For motoracing in classes were cars have to race with standard tyres, it is common practice to scrape 50% of the thread, as only then most tyres have the best grip. Also it reduces the grove walls movements

Default Called "solar sunroof" ironically. I skipped the option, wanting more light. Might be possible...

... to install a small auxilliary battery to run the interior fans of the hot weather system, and get a normal sunroof. Probably would be "some assembly required"!

Default Glad I wasn't able to get the Solar Sunroof... now

That lack of being able to open the shade with the glass closed is a bit odd, albiet understandable. Hell, just open the damn thing, that's what you got it for! Personally, I think ALL sunroofs are lame and useless. Other than to demonstrate mine, it remains unused. But I DO open the shade now and then if the sun's not out.
Also, Audi could have seen fit to put the better performing Conti Sport 2's on the S6 at least. But, it's all about compromise I guess. You know, trade off some performance for some ride comfort/quietness.

Default There Is No Moonroof, Only Sunroof

The only way to get light in is to open the roof up to the elements. Since I live in 100+ temperatures during the summer, having a non-sauna when I've parked outside for a while is more pof a consideration. This is an option, so the customer has the choice of moonroof vs warm weather package.

Default About the Conti's what ambient temp is it? Been below 40F around here -- really warm for Boston

but not for a summer tire. Snow predicted today and I'm getting four Pirelli 210's in 2 days. Still plenty of winter for me to look forward to, also Lynda and I are going to try the winter driving course in NH this year.

Default i too am very dissapointed in the tire selection Audi uses for their flagships.

I have 5 k miles on my Bridgestone Potenzas and am looking to replace both wheel and tire because they are indeed the only weakness of these S cars. My 2.7t with dunlop sp8000 have 25% more grip than the OEM tires on my S4.
