my brother is selling his A6, let me know if this strikes an interest to some of you.
Based on Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com), here's the lowdown on the A6:
1996 Audi A6 Sedan 4D
Engine: V6 2.8 Liter
Trans: Automatic
Drive: Quattro AWD
Mileage: 25,000
Equipment:
Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Tilt Wheel, Cruise Control, AM/FM Stereo, Cassette, Dual Front Air Bags, ABS
(4-Wheel), Leather Dual Power Seats, Sliding Sun Roof, Premium Wheels.
Exterior: Silver
Interior: Black Leather
Interior Instrument Cluster/Lighting: Amber Red
Retail Value $20,350
The amount quoted is based on condition of the vehicle. The 96 Audi A6 was purchased in August 1996, and has extremely excellent mileage (20,500)
for a six year old car; never been in an accident; promt maintenance under scheduled service appointments; excellent electrical and mechanical operations; smooth powertrain with good acceleration; good working brakes; exterior (minor skid marks on bumper) and interior are in great condition (clean, polish regularly); vehicle is bone-stock, no modification performed.

No offense, but no way in hell is he gonna get $20k...
Given every option and quattro that was available on a '96 A6 in Outstanding condition...the best price (Dealer Retail) is $16k, Private Party is $14k, and Trade-In is $13k. (source: Edmunds)
KBB has a Private Party value of $18k...KBB overestimates severely...KBB sets a point where banks are willing to loan that amount for a car.
Typically, a private party sale can usually be made somewhere in between the listed Trade value and the listed Private Party value. A dealer would actually probably give only about $10k.
Good luck to him in finding someone who will pay $20k...but methinks the KBB is outdated or something.

As a rule of thumb.. they (dealers) never pay above average for a use car... this is whole sale price. Then they mark it up to KKB or Edmund value.

thanks. well, now that i have a better idea, i will inform my bro; perhaps he should seriously consider dropping the price.
so lowering the price to at least 5k off, aside from this forum, where do you recommend to post/advertise for the sale?? know anyone interested in a 96 A6?
