Late entry to Québec's dirty car contest (and a related question)

Took me a while (to get the camera software installed on my new PC that is, takes 2 days to get the car this dirty). The Avant really does seem to like dirtying itself.

Does anyone have any experience of Audi's mud flaps for the A6 Avant? Do they keep the car cleaner? Do they add to wind noise? Any other comments?

I don't think mudflaps are gonna help much with that much crap!

Mud flaps go on trucks; splash guards go on cars! (more)

That being said, I'm halfway through putting mud flaps on my '01 A6 sedan 4x4. ;^) They've been on the back for a few weeks and the rear of the car seems to stay cleaner longer (maybe twice as long or more). Hoping to see similar results for the fronts. Having not done the fronts, I have noticed no additional wind noise. We'll see what the fronts yield. Send me an e-mail if you'd like an update, later. Unfortunately, no weather to speak of in So. Cal. Got them mostly for the dirt (out here in the 'country') and tar and oil from the seemingly non-stop road resurfacing.

I broke down and put the flaps on my A6 2.7 because of corrosive finish damage caused last year by a trip to snow country. When I went back this last Xmas, I had no damage at all. Car got about as dirty as yours over all, BUT no damage. Around town in rain, etc. they work great. No wind noise, and I don't think they hurt the appearance very much.
