Default New Wheels and Tires

I've wanted to move from the 16" sport wheels to 17" for quite some time. Since summer is almost upon us here in Texas I decided to go ahead and do it. I wanted wheels that were significantly lighter than the stocks but not too expensive so I finally settled on the O.Z. Superleggara 17x8. I also wanted something significantly superior to my Eagle NCT3 tires. They really weren't that bad when they were new bu they now have 18000 miles on them and they scrub quite a bit now. They have a good 5000 - 8000 miles left on them but I figure I can put those back in if I decide to trade the car at some point.

Wednesday morning I placed an order with Eddie at Tirerack for the O.Z. wheels and 235/45-17 S-03 tires. They arrived on Friday at lunch and I quickly put them on. Unfortunately I've only put about 20 miles on them so I can't really give a decent report on their performance until they are broken in more. What I can say is that they are quite a bit more comfortable than I was expecting. In the move to 17" wheels I lost sidewall height plus I had heard that the S-03 sidewall were pretty stiff so I expected a significantly harsher ride. In the few miles that I have put on so far they are only slightly harsher than the stock setup. I've only been on decent roads so my opinion may change.

I'm really pleased with the look. The wheel color is a bit darker than the stock wheel color so brake dust won't show up quite as bad. There are more spokes but I think they will be just as easy to clean since the spokes have plenty of space between them.

Here are some pics of the old vs the new:

Nice... if only you could dump the chrome trim... and go 18 ... Still much better than stock!

Default Jamo's right , you'll love the S-03's, and ...

... though I agree the ride of the S-03 isn't bad, losing probably 5 lb of wheel weight in each corner certainly helped.

Default R-38's were high on my list but the light weight O.Z.'s won me over

Didn't hurt that they help hide brake dust as well.
