Default Non-avant S6

Does anyone have the latest rumors on the non-avant S6 in the US?

Also, is it possible to import one?

I don't understand why they would bring over the wagon and not the sedan. Are there really that many soccer-mom-wagon enthusiasts in the US?

Default They did not bring the sedan because

Who want's an A6 with only 40HP and $15K more than a A6 4.2 (you mabe...) -- That is why, not a lot of peoples would buy it because there was not enough differance between those 2 car.

Default A number of wealthy people wanted a V8 wagon.

I had several write to AoA before the S6 came. They weren't just any people, but obviously those who could and would buy such a car.

In Europe, the wagons are often more sought after because it connotates a sporty active lifestyle.

Also keeps comparos to the BMW M5 away.

True, the price difference probably isn't worth it in the short term, it would be better to spend the 15k on mods. The resale value is less though.

My biggest complaint is not having a 6-speed manual as an option. If the 4.2 had that option I would buy it today.

Do you have a list of official changes between the 4.2 and the S6.

Haha - portraying a certain "lifestyle" isn't really what I'm going for.

I'm really looking for M5 like performance (and size) with all-wheel drive. I currently own an S4 and it's just a little small to comfortably haul four people to the slopes. My friend on the other hand has a new M5 and its size/performance/comfort level is great but, he's not going to make it over the pass with that rear-wheel drive. I don't care how much BMW touts "how much better this year's traction control is". He'll be in the ditch with the Camero's and Mustangs.

I could see how an RS4-like-Avant could be kind of sporty but, that tail is still falling in the ML/X5 rich-soccer mom class.

Have you ever heard of anyone retrofitting a manual gear-box to a 4.2?

Default Didn't Andre report the opposite when the S6 sedan was introduced to South Africa

If I remember correctly, he mentioned that when the S6 sedan became available it pretty much killed local sales of the 4.2 sedan.

They should have brought the S6 sedan as well as the Avant and eliminated the 4.2. It is relatively easy and cheap to chip the 2.7T to 307 bhp. In my opinion, they should up the factory standard bhp like they did on the A4 1.8T since the new 3.0 A6 is pushing out 220bhp (though the 250 bhp turbo characteristics provide adequate differentiation). This way there is a much better differentiation between the submodels.
