Rough Idle at 20,000 Check Up...

Default Rough Idle at 20,000 Check Up...

Took car in for 20k check up (err, free oil change)and requested investigation of rough idle at stop lights, etc (even with A/C off). Service Manager said all codes were fine, therefore nothing for him to check. Isn't it still their job to find what the problem vs. "I guess I'll have to live it". (I only use premium gas 92+.)

Anyone experience this or have suggestions?

Default Ugh... a codeboy.

Starting points...

Fuel Injectors (clean)
Spark Plugs (replace)
ISV/IAC valve (not sure which the 2.7T has) (clean)

Default I would say it has a bad temp sensor. This does not throw any codes, even when the gauge reads

wrong. When they replaced mine, the idle was much better

Try a high speed run to blow crud off the valves and plugs. If that's not it, try Jon's suggestion

Default Also check coil packs...

My '99 2.8 was misfiring but only at idle. No codes the first time I took it in (like you). I finally got a Check Engine light; took it in again; code indicated random misfires on #5 cylinder. Connector between the coil pack and the spark plug was bad.

I had a problem with the a/c temp sensor/fan a couple of months ago. Took awhile to the part. Reprocussions?

Definitely yes, the coil packs...but mine threw errors like nuts.

Default If the temp sensor is bad, the computer thinks the car is cold, when it is hot, and richens up the

mixture a little to compensate. there is probably a whole "cold temP' program in there for emissions testing purposes
