Default Spent some time reading the 7-series board...they are much more tolerant over there...

regarding problems with their cars...makes AW forum members look like a bunch of whiners...

They seem to have tons of major problems requiring weeks and weeks of repair time...yet they still say they love their car and can't see themselves driving anything else. Several have gotten cars replaced by BMW...BMW "appears" to be more responsive and quick at replacing bad cars than Audi seems to be.

My favorite line referred to the "beta-testing" the '02 7-series owners were doing for BMW...yeah, something like that. This car must be a HUGE headache for BMW service centers...
There is a general feeling that the newer build ones are doing a little better...but really, so much for BMW being so much better reliability-wise than Audi...but I bet Consumer Reports gives them all 'Red Circles' in the repair history section!

I'll try to stop being such a whiner...my vibrating 4.2 is a dream compared to the problems those guys have...still wouldn't mind having one though! Too many choices in my head...too many.

Default My boss's 7-series has gone to the dealer twice a month...

for the past 4 months! He has someone else take it there during the day, so he doesn't care. As long as the car impresses people.

Default OK, I took a minute based on April and Finman's comments. Check this out

I can't believe this. I have 4 ringitis. I admit it. But this guy needs to be admitted...<ul><li><a href="http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e65/forum.php?postid=1104915&amp;page=1">7 series link</a></li></ul>

Default (imo) one difference with BMW- volume of sales...

if Audi had the same sales numbers as BMW then I'm sure you'd see a much more responsive AoA to problems (i.e. replacing cars where necessary...)-plus there'd be better service, dealers, etc... (simply because there'd be more and hence more competition causing dealers to find an edge- as it stands now, many of these Audi dealers can do whatever they want because to get an Audi there aren't as many choices as with BMW...)

it'll take some time to get to that point though- with the new A4 showing strong sales, Audi might be on its way, but its still gonna take a while.

when you have such a large base of customers, you gotta do these things to keep them happy and loyal- I guess the idea is the same for a smaller customer base but with their resources Audi just isn't as agile or able to do the same as BMW.

just my thoughts. yours?

Default another difference- type of customer (most BMW owners just care that its a BMW- more patient...

with regards to problems and such because they believe that BMW is the cream of the crop...)

Default You have had it bad. Has it left you stranded?....

I've been lucky. Two Audis, (assuming you don't count the VW Quantum Synchro AKA Audi 4000 Avant Quattro)4 years and nothing but the recalls and wear items.

Default I don't have much pity for early adopters

cars are just too complicated these days and the marketing need to rush them to market means that only some of the bugs are worked out. And the 7er is the most complicated one out there, until the Maybach comes along!

I would hope BMW would be bending over backwards and sideways to take care of these customers. This is where they are making their money, not on the "riffraff" buying base 3 series and complaining that their Honda was better built.
