If Audi Gmbh is prohibited to make the RS6 after December 2003 due to emissions, what could
the gas mileage be? It can't possibly be worse than a H1 or Suburban, and there's no limit to producing those...

Not MPG, CO2 emissions.
The European regulations get tougher each "revision". I think EU3 is current spec, EU4 will probably be the death of lots of larger emitters.
Audi's FSI technology will help bring the higher output engines in line with the requirements, but there's going to be limits to what magic can be engineered in the face of increasingly strict regulations, at least until something fundamental changes, perhaps Saab's SVC concept or something will make a big difference?

It's funny to see how the focus has changed
in the Brit car mags (CAR and Top Gear). All the ads now feature CO2 emissions data instead of MPG, and this has now become the main buying criterion among those folks who get cars from their job. Do you know if there's any kind of correlation, did the MPG have to go down so CO2 could drop? Wouldn't that be ironic? Is this an EU directive or a Brit thing?

It's absolutely ridiculous anyway!! Semis produce about 80% of the vehicle-produced CO2, and
vehicles as a whole produce about 4% of the entire CO2 emissions - factories are the worst producers by far - why don't they worry about that?

CO2 output tends to go hand in hand with engine size and therefore..
any increase in gas consumption by the engine increases CO2, so from a GREEN point of view an efficient engine will use less gas and produce less CO2.
