Anti-Sway Bar

Hello,

Please forgive me for not doing a more thorough search before posting.. I DID find this thread from nearly a year ago, but I was hoping to get a quick answer to this question.

My A6 is a 2000 2.8. I've read a few things on this board about upgrading to a stiffer rear bar, and I'd like to know where to order the right one for my car. Would I be upgrading to an 18mm? I remember reading about them being "too long". Is this project fairly simple to do? What about bushings? since you are so polite and well manered ( a rarity in here,including me!)

here are trhe correct part numbers. Go to clairparts.com, call them and order them up. A normal shop should charge you no more than 1 hout labor to install -so the whole upgrade should be just under $200, and the difference will shock you -so much better

P/N 4B0-511-409-F = bar
Bushings for sway bar #4BO-511-327 - 2 required

Thanks very much! Your quick response is appreciated! I DO look forward to not having the 'side to side pitch' that I've experienced from day one. I need new tires, and thought I'd let the tire shop do the bar upgrade at the same time. I'll check out Clair's site..

Compared to some sites, I've found the A6 forum to be quite tactful...most of the time!

You can try calling Clair Parts (www.clairparts.com). They should be able to give you the correct part #. I don't know if the "sport package sway bar" from the 2.7t will fit the 2.8, but I imagine it would.

I did not need to replace the bushings when I did mine. I had a local brake/exhaust place install it for me (it's a pretty brainless install)...
