No Deal.
I really should stop talking about the dealers by name though...they have a right to operate their businesses the way that they want...so I'll start referring to them by numbers (as I go through them?, perhaps it is just me being unreasonable? Mmmmmmno).
#1. Sounds as if the deal will not be doable, as I think that I was pretty fair in my offer (more generous than a lot of you would be?) and we could not even get into the same ballpark, much less onto the same playing field. I think they don't order cars much, and have a stronger than normal desire to sell off of their lot and through dealer trades. Too bad, Perry is a very cool guy and the only real Audi enthusiast that I've ever met in a dealership.
#2. Called and made the same flat offer that I've now come to as being fair in my mind and was greeted with an "Oh! Yes, yes, let me look into the details and call you back." There was more to it than that, but the gist of it was positive. This person sounded pretty interested to me, though until I get that call.......
Have I ever mentioned that I hate car dealers? This whole process is so against my personality grain that I can barely deal with it. Why so much playing around?

I would seriously consider buying outside CA even (apparently where all the deals are!), but the long drive home on the freeway wouldn't be an ideal break-in for the engine...
So are you coming out here to visit us - I mean San Francisco/Vineland - or not?
