From everything I've heard: zero. I wish it would be though. 600 '02's & 600 03's.

Default dagnabit... was just thinking about my options for when my lease is over ->

maybe I'll try to get out early at the end of next year and hope there are still some '03 S6s around at that time.

Default My lease is out very early '04...will be too late I fear, thus I scramble now.

Bad timing for me...my lease ends when the new A8 is out, but not the S8...when the new A6 will be coming out...but not the new S6...the only thing it coincides with is the RS6 but that may be priced beyond me or not available, and frankly, I don't know if I would want to deal with an RS6 as the S6 has enough poke to get me where I'm going...thank-you-very-much.

I should know within the next two weeks either when my S6 will arrive, or whether I'll be looking at the big market in the winter of '03 for a new car. In a very small way, I don't really care which way it goes. Having lived with the A6 for a good while now, the S6 won't really offer that "getting a new car" feeling quite as thoroughly as a new or different model or brand would've offered. It will, however, be the A6 that I dreamed of getting when I first started shopping.

I wonder if there will be some S6's left late next year. Either the new A6 will have been shown and that will kill the current A6 sales, or the same could happen and people will be scrambling to get the last of the current ones. Hmmmm...???

Default sounds like my same situation...

which is why I was trying to convince hubby to take my A6 and I'll get an S6. I love the S8s, though I don't think I'd like driving such a big car everyday.

Guess I'll work on my strategy again early next year. My quest to get hubby out of that Camry continues!

Default It is unclear...I say "pretty good chance", just my opinion...

Originally there were only gonna be 600 each year x 2. From what I've heard, there were more than 900 in 2002 and probably a few less in 2003...but since the '04 A6 will be the same as the '03, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a short '04 MY S6 (short A6 year also)...similar to the short '02 model year for the S4. Just my prediction.

Default Why would Audi pull the model after having spent all the money on certification?

Especially when the S6 is not competing with anything else, except at that point probably a volvo v70R (awd 300hp 6 sp man). BMW may have a new V8 5 series wagon at that point, but probably not til '05 (guessing).

So why pull it from the lineup? I can't imagine they would, esp since no RS6 avant. :-(

There will be S6's this time next year...and you can likely get out of an Audi lease 1-3 mo early.

Default The release of the new A6 depends on the release of the new A8

If the new A8 comes out in the spring of 2003 then the new A6 will come out in the spring of 2004. However, if the new A8 comes out in the summer of 2003 then the new A6 will come out in the summer of 2004. A couple of sources (Auto Motor und Sport and Auto car UK) say that the new A6 will not have an A8 style ASF (aluminum space frame) but rather primarily aluminum construction with a minimal amount of steel. But we all know that this information is 100% bull****. Several other sources as well as several people on this board have confirmed that the A8 style ASF for the new A6 with all aluminum construction like the A8 is official. It will be the single piece ASF like on the new A8. The single piece ASF is 60% more rigid yet 45 lbs lighter than the three piece ASF on the outgoing A8.

Default I agree

Here is why. If I am not mistaken, North American S6 sales were well below Audi's expectations for a reason: Avant only. Most North Americans who buy high performance sport/luxury vehicles would much rather have a sedan, coupe, convertible or even an SUV (to a much lower degree) and think high performance sport/luxury wagon is an oxymoron. IMO, high peformance sport/luxury wagon and high performance sport/luxury SUV are both oxymorons. If I were to buy a sport/luxury car and I wanted high performance, I would not even look at the S6 simply because it is a wagon only in North America. That is so very lame. What the **** was Audi thinking?
