anyone have good pics of the Vette catching fire today at Laguna Seca?
Pretty freakin' spectacular.
I was mostly just glad for the great racing, regardless of the competitors. I mean, when one team runs out of gas rather than concede defeat, you know you've got something going.
Kudos to the Prodrive team for their great car. And kudos to the Vette team who encouraged the ProDrive team to bring the 550 here after their battles at Le Mans. That is a team that really loves to race. I doubt Audi Sport North America is as comitted to racing.
I've got more, this was the most aflame.
I was sure they were going to lose the car. The driver appeared convinced also. They would have lost it if the track workers hadn't drive up in a big truck and let loose with some of their extinguishers. The Vette and trackside ones were exhausted well before this.
So, love or hate the domestics, without these particular ones (Chevy and Saleen) it wouldn't be nearly as fun.
P675 is starting to look great. There are lots of good cars and they no longer look like cheap P900s now, they have their own (slightly stumpier) look.
The sound of that #13 car (P675) was great. It was so quiet, but it made this great "chirp" when he shifted. Every once in a while he would go by alone and you would get this cool blip-blip-blip treat. I think I may even like it better than the Panoz, soundwise.

I'll take it either way. It was great racing, no matter who won.
Note that this make it look like the pass happened in front of me. It didn't. But the Vette tried to get back here in the corkscrew and the Ferrari shoved him off the track to the outside.
The real pic is a little better, I had to crop it to make it take less space. Also, this is the first time I've noticed my Sony camera blowing out reds (see lack of detail on Ferrari quarter panels compared to Vette ones), a trait which it is known for and not a good one. At least it is rare.
