option 1 and 2 are both inexpensive upgrade to performance and sound but I worried about the loudness by doing both. So I wonder which is better in sound and/or performance???

Doing both will probably require an addition of smaller resonator to avoid sounding too loud.

Default Do the resonator first. It is the cheapest, and you will have to do it anyway if you do #2

However, once you start to hear a LITTLE of the engine, you will want to hear more.

Also, remmember that even if you went with straight pipes, becuase of teh turbos an cat converters, this is a toattly different thing that a non-turbo motor

Default I like the sound level of the 4.2 V8; so I would do one or the other and not both

I heard Flowmaster would sound awesome but don't know if they will improve the performance at all.
and were wondering which is holding the performance more, the resonator or the stock muffler?

Default as far as performane - I think there was a dyno test posted that showed

a 2.7t motor got 14HP from an updated exhaust. That is about 6%, so it is quit a bit

Default I did it in stages, in hindsight...

it would have been best to remove the stock mufflers and resonator and replace all at once which is where I ended up. Cost 410.00 for the two Magnaflow mufflers, tips, resonators and installation. I am quite happy with the sound, nice note not at all loud. Personally I would not bother with anything less, it is a waste of time.

But that is just my opinion.

I'm going to do just mufflers first then if I want to go louder, I'll do the resonator.

Default keep in mind that a milltek cat back exhause is about $1200

plus about $250 labor. This would be the ultimate conversion.

I hate to say this, but a nice custom one is 25% as much, and does the same thing
