how do you remove an ESP or Fog Light Dash Switch?

how do you remove an ESP or Fog Light Dash Switch?
anyone know?
i know you can basically pop the cover button off. but the switch is held in place by metal tangs.
snapping them in is easy...but how do you take them back out?
is there a special tool necessary?
