Default Odd MAF related prob on the 2000 2.7T...

Car suddenly lost power and began sputtering under load. Would rev up at a standstill but would barely move under power. Fortunately I was within a half mile of a Audi dealer. They were initially baffled (no CEL) until they discovered that a circular seal for the MAF housing was missing. Nobody has been under the hood for over 2 months with the possible exception for the LQ Recall. Have to wait for the seal. Don't know if the MAF is bad yet. They don't understand how the car could drive normally for over 2 months with this situation. Any thoughts?

BS - unless it was sucked in. sounds like the accordian tube was bad

My 2000 2.7 ingested the seal around the airbox, and tried to chow the air filter.. same deal, no one under the hood, just lean CE's one day..

Default My first and most important thought is....

What if moisture got in through that seal and hit the impeller blades....yikes. That's what Dallas's turbos looked like to me when I saw them. They looked like some sort of FOD as a result of water hitting the blades when they are ridiculously hot. Just speculation though of course, I'm sure your car is fine : )

On a lighter note, if you didn't touch the MAF, I would demand an extended warranty and make the argument that you never had a good seal on the intake pre-turbo. There is no way they can deny that.

Man I have the same problem. My car sputters especially when I first start it if I don't let it warm up for a minute or two. I got a CE light but not for a little bit and it flashes now when the car sputters. I also have no power but engine will rev up at low speeds. But oddly enough it goes away as soon as it comes and then the car will be fine until I start it up cold again. Weird. When we diagnosed it with VAG it had a "lean fuel mixture" bank 1 and 2. I'm bringing it in for service next Thursday.<ul><li><a href="http://www.cardomain.com/id/saidude2">Check it out...</a></li></ul>

power the car has after they swap it : )

..this past weekend. It did not go away. My car is going in for LQ recall on monday...I'll hav e them look @ it.
