Gremlins in the tranny? - HANDS-ON ENTHUSIASTS, please help!
Back-up lights light up in park. Go out once you switch to drive.
Check engine light.
Under engine fault codes - 18032 MIL Signal Active
Under Transmission:
00293 - Multifunction Switch (F125) 27-00 - Implausible Signal
00526 - Brake Light Switch (f) 27-00 Implausible Signal
Any way I can trick out the ECU to stop it from throwing these codes? I can clear the code and drive around without it reappearing, but as soon as I re-start the car, the check engine light comes back on.
So far I've heard
a) check all bulbs (fine)
b) replace the multi-function switch that sits somewhere on the transmission

Far as I know....
...the back up lights are activated by a switch that senses the gear selector position (ie, somewhere in the console), rather that in the tranny.
Call a dealer or find someone with a Bentley..
Might be an easy fix.

Sounds about right, 2 parts of Tip lever assembly that are relevant
1. Switch to turn reverse lights on when R is selected.
2. Safety interlock pin that prevents you from coming out of Park without the brake pedal depressed.
Obviously the reverse lights is annoying, but if you can't get out of Park because the brake light signal fails to be picked up by the interlock, that will be a bit more than just annoying!
Could be a wiring fault in the console if both went wrong at the same time.
