What RPM is considered lugging in a 4.2?...
But I don't think it ever lugs...it is pretty free to rev up quickly...
I rarely floored it. Hell, it took me a year to find out that I had a kickdown switch, and that was only because someone here told me! Now, I'm less conservative by far.
My friend Brad encouraged me while driving his to take it to the limiter. With aftermarket exhaust, it was particularly rewarding.
Not sure what is too high or too low for routine use.
Nearby there's a steeply sloped 80 degree corner that I take and can get the car (with no effort at all in the wet!) to activate the traction control and it's as if someone has pulled the plug on the power...it just bogs down, stumbles, stumbles...finds traction after the turning is mostly complete and I'm off the steep part and then it picks up again.
It's a very odd feeling to floor it and have nothing happen because the car is doing its own thing.
