Continental 215/55/16
How are people finding those Continental 215's that I think started showing up as OEM equipment in '02? Noticed they are dramatically cheaper than some of the other tires the factory has slapped on the A6/A6 Avant.

They were putting 205's of various makes on Avants at least...
through 00, and possibly 01. Looks like they went to a wider tire as OEM in 02. So the question is, are these 215 Continentials any good, in general?

My 01 came with those. ContactTouringSport I think they are called. They are cheaper than the Continental Contact2's that come with say the A4 Sport package. I also have a set of those. The touring tires are cheaper but they are quiet, and give a very comfortable ride, just what you expect from a touring tire. They also wear very well but compared to the Contact2 they don't handle worth a crap. As a street tire for sedate to normal drivers they are fine. I really like the Contact2's but they have a very stiff sidewall and give a much stiffer ride but boy do they add to the handling of the car. Bottomline I think they are good general use tires for drivers that do not engage in very spirited driving.
