Leaks

At my last oil change (47.5 k miles) yesterday, the dealer says I need the following replaced(i have the exact verbage written in my car):

Gasket seals - Engine (i notice a burning plastic smell)

Tranny coolant line

They will do it on Wednesday...Anything else I should ask for? How bad are these problems?

don't know about brakes, but many cars have leaking valve cover and cam cover gaskets

how bad a problem is it, and how often does it occur?

very prevalent in 99 and 2000 2.8 and 2.7t motors. looks like you are using oil

becuase it leaks onto the exhaust and burns off, so you never see it on the floor. might smell it every one in a while. your dealer will be very familier with the problem. tell them to check it out
