Default Leaking Washer Fluid

My '99 A6 windshield washer fluid reservoir is leaking, apparently out of the bottom. Anyone else had this problem? I cannot see under the thing from the top, nor can I see the bottom of it from underneath due to the plastic shields in the wheel well and under the radiator area. The reservoir itself looks like a pretty contorted shape, bending around some of the steel engine support structure.

How does one remove the windshield washer fluid reservoir for closer inspection and potential replacement?

the pump is what leaks, not the bottle, and you need to remove the fender well liner to get to it

Default pump is right. you can also get at it by removing the resevoir from the top. more...

be carefull of the fragile plastic elbow that connects the hose to the pump. if it breaks, just cut the hose stick it right on until you find another one at a junk yard. good luck!

Default I just had a leak fixed on my 02 2.7t.

Dealer replaced a washer near the left headlight.

Default Re: Leaking Washer Fluid & first post

This is my first post here. This site has been great for advice. Been looking at it since late last year. In Feb. I went out and got a "certified" 99 A6 Avant, Volcano Black with a tan interior, 35K miles, with the winter pkg.

Thanks to everyone, I've been extra careful about my front bumper. I actually had the recall done about a month ago. Unfortunately about 2 weeks ago I was pulling out of a parking lot onto a street and scraped the lower driver's side part of the front bumper.

Shortly after that my washer fluid indicator went on.

I had never used my headlight washers since the recall. I checked down below the headlights (inside) and noticed that the washer fluid line from the reservoir to the headlight washers had separated. It's held together with a hose clamp. A real pain to get at.

I'll let the dealer take care of it in another week when I take it in for parts that they had ordered for some initial issues that the car had.

Don't know if this will help, but it's where I'm seeing my leak. I just don't use the headlight washers, because whenever I try, the hose separates.

Just washed, clayed and waxed the car today. Can't wait to use one of the photos. Last car was a '95 Subaru Legacy L w/154K miles. Last weekend went to VT on Friday night and the car performed flawlessy in the snow. Couldn't ask for more. Happy to be back in a German car.

Default KC..mine is leaking too...must be a common problem on the 99 model...

It is leaking at the clamp where the hose comes out the bottom of the resevoir. I will get to fix it one of these days..for now, when I get my oil changed they top it off and it lasts until the next oil change until empty. I also keep 2 windsheild fluid refills in the trunk......come to think of it, I should have fixed it today when I was putting my summer wheels on..doh!

Default Drip, Drip 03 A6

Mine has been dripping as well. Just took mine in today. The tech thinks it is the pump. Will find out tomorrow.
