Default Attn. STEVE 2.7T, 2.7tdallas, anyone else who's gone from a 2000 to a 2003 A6.

I, too, have the itch. My current A6, a 2000 2.8q that I've owned since new (special-ordered from factory) is absolutely the best car I've ever owned. I pretty much love everything about it; sure, I wish it had more power, but I knew going in that it was no rocket and I can live with that.

Having said that, I'm thinking about making a move. Reading yesterday's post by STEVE 2.7T really got me thinking...if the '03 is really that much improved over the 2000, then there's probably good reasons to at least take a test drive. While I've lusted for the 4.2 V8 since it was introduced, it would probably still be too much of a stretch. The 2.7T would be a pretty easy deal for me.

So...what would really be helpful to me is to learn from you what you like better about your '03s vs. your previous A6s. Do the '03s "feel" different? Sound different? Other than the obvious styling changes in and out and the more powerful engine I'd be getting in going from a 2.8 to either the 2.7T or 4.2, what improvements do you think I'd realize?

The thing is, I love my current A6 just the way it is, especially now that I have the 18" wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport A/Ss, and Eibach suspension. But if there's more out there and I can afford it...well, you know how it is. What do you think?

Default Yeah, I've seen it and it's a beauty.

If I'm going to make a change, though, I'm want to go new. I'm funny that way.

Default a few things..

It seems way more refined which is a product of being quieter for one thing plus the std. sport suspension (remembering the added alloy bits)which makes the car better behaved. It seems Audi added more sound deadening as well as thickening the glass. I never suffered from squeaks and rattles with the 00 (unlike others) but the 03 seems even better built.

Default Thanks for the definition...much appreciated, though I'd have

to say that some people have their own version snobbery in keeping their crappy old cars and thinking somehow that they're superior for it.

:P

Just so you don't feel too lonely, here's a shot of my 17 year old obviously-better-than-a-new-one 535i:

Default Nope. Not in this case.

I just happen to get a lot of enjoyment from all of the sensations generated by owning and driving a new car that I really love. I know there are many who don't value the new car experience and that's fine. For me, however, among material things cars are at the very top of the list of things I enjoy. I personally value the benefits of new cars vs. used, regardless of how nice the used car in question may be. Since it has nothing to do with flaunting in front of others, I'd hardly call it snobbery.
