It will be interesting to see how the R matches up to the S4 (you can't compare it to the S6).
I would have to say that the turbo lag would get pretty annoying, and the interior is as Ford as one can get. Though I hasve to admit that the black and natural leather looks pretty hot!!!
I prefered the "estate" for the rear seat legroom and storage increase as well as for the subtleness of the look.
As far as power, there is noticeable turbo-lag in the Volvos. Slightly more than in the A6. I wonder what a chip would add...? Volvo literature states 0-60 for S60R at 5.4 sec. V70R is 5.6.
The spaceball shifter has nice linkage, short throws, and a confidence inspiring feel. Feels more japanese than germanic in style and precision.
Price is nice, $37K and up. I need to drive the new S4 to compare directly, but at that price, it will be difficult to find an "equal competitor" for the Volvo.
Expected initial delivery in May. One fella had a deposit on one at MSRP for those interested.
