Spark Plug Replacement on 2.8 30 valve
1. How difficult?
2. Can you get to all the plugs from the top? (I don't want to crawl under the car.)
I'm going to be changing my plugs as well. I don't expect any issues, as it was very easy to do on my 12 valve.
Which plugs are you planning on using? I picked up Bosch +4 (I think).
I'm a weekend mechanic. I need the car finished on Monday morning to drive to work. I can't wait until Saturday to buy the stuff I need to do the job on Saturday. So I investigate it first; buy stuff; and, have it ready for me to go out to the driveway on Saturday morning. In that way, when I screw it up on Saturday, I've got Sunday to recover or make calls for a ride to work.
This'll be the 60K servicing. Already did the cabin air filter. Clair has done the oil when I brought it in for something else. I'll do the plugs, air filter, and maybe the fuel filter now. Then I'll do everything else along with the major (serpentine belt, timing belt) 75K service early.
I haven't done the oil yet, but it looks easy enough.
After the enormous amount of work I put into the 5KSQ, I'm enjoying this car. I intend to do most of the easy maintenance on this car myself. But if it's going in for something else already, I'll also have them do the things I'd usually do myself. First oil change was when the car broke. Second one was with the front bumper recall. Next big maintenance is the timing belt. I'm just covering it myself until then - probably this Fall. My question really was, "Is changing the plugs yourself in the driveway easier than calling the dealer and leaving the car for the day?" Sounds like it is.
I haven't even gotten around to buying the Bentley yet.
