my cheatin' heart...(lenghty)

This Saturday, I gazed in amazement, while driving on the freeway, at no less than 8 brand spankin' new VW's. Four Touaregs and four Phaetons. They were absolutely gorgeous. I entered HWY 80 westbnd near Hercules, CA while merging I noticed the bulging fenders and deep blue metallic paint, along with a VW badge adorning a new Touareg. As I sat there doing 55, staring this beauty up and down, following the flowing lines, and daydreaming about how nice it would be to trade places with the guy when all of the sudden the tail lights of a Phaeton catch my eye, I thought, "what are the chances of two new unreleased VW's on the same freeway!" As I looked ahead of the Phaeton, I saw three more Touaregs and three more Phaetons...I was in complete awe...These babies are B A D! At any rate, I was just wondering if anyone else had seen these babies rolling along in the Bay Area on Saturday. I figured that they must have been doing their cameo appearances at local VW dealers. They all had FL plates instead of dealer plates and they all looked awesome! I pulled up to each one of them in my Avant and "tooted" my horn relentlessly to pay homage. Each "toot" was greeted by a welcome thumbs up. I wish I had my camera with me, could have posted some spy shots!

Was out and about a lot this weekend...all I can report is sighting one (ugly) Cayenne in Montclair.

First one I've seen on the road, and to my eyes, it looked just like in the magazine photographs; ungainly and strange. Perhaps the looks will grow on me...not that I really care as I have zero interest in them.

I would like to have seen the Touareg's though as I do have a lingering interest in those...even the remote idea that I might like to own one someday...

Oh yeah, I did also see several rainbows, assorted lightning flashes (no bolts though), super dark clouds accompained by 150 ft. visibility cloud bursts and then blue sky...lot's of this cycling in half-hour periods all weekend...in short, good quattro® weather! [For non NorCal'ers - our weather is ususally steady-as-she-goes boring and this was pretty exciting.]
