Default Its about the 1st to 2nd tip mode dance..

Ok guys and gals.. Whats the lowdown on the tip shifting rpm dipsy doodle from 1st to 2nd? Been trying to figure out what this accomplishes, why it was built in and why it only does this in tip mode? D mode is ok, S mode kicks butt, but the manual shifting mode where you would expect clean shifts is porked. I'm sure you folks who have had this tranny for awhile have found the answer for eliminating this unwanted wandering slippage.. Can it be adjusted or recoded or will the Tip Chip fix it? What an un-german-like thing this is...

Default Tip can be re-programmed to hold 1st gear in Tip mode...

...add this link to your "Favorites" - TONS of answers to most of the questions you'll likely have about your A6, inlcuding this one....

BTW - I had my 2000 Tip re-coded (00032), and I like it. 1st gear is over in a heartbeat, though, so you hafta pay attention!

Your car may have a slightly different code since you already have the "Sport" mode as standard equipment.

Default Thanx for the 'Tip'...

Still, cant for the life of me figure out why Audi techs would allow this feature? to continue on after all these years and I'm sure complaints.

Default 1-2 change problem

I really don't understand the behaviour of the tiptronic box when I am driving at speeds that are within range of 1. gear:

With the accelerator floored it is not possible to manually shift from 1. to 2., it only shifts when I let the accelerator up or when the limiter is reached (4800 rpm). I would like to shift at 4000 rpm, as this is where the acceleration levels off.

In tiptronic mode, be it in 2. or 3., flooring the pedal will force a downshift. Driving at 50kmh in 2., I really don't want it to shift into 1., only to upshift 1 second later. Same when driving 80 in 3., when I reach 95 it has to go back up in 3. again, so there is no point in it going down to 2. for a second.

Is it really supposed to be this way?
