S6s second trip to the dealer in 5200 miles!
Since it was in at 5200 miles I did my first oil change as well.
Mobile 1 0w-30 4.89/quart (8.5 used)
1 OEM Oil Filter $40.00
16 mins labor 24.00
Total= $105.57
Does this seem about right? Also is there any online vendors that have the "Oil" or filter for less?
Ad Amsol (sp) hold up better then M1 in the S6?
Thanks for the help!
My cars have been overfilled 4 times! (each by ~1/2 quart)
Otherwise, the price is right.
check oil when car is cold, warm and just hot. all 3 levels should be with the marked band. if overfilled cold checks will be fine but hot checks after a few minutes to drain back, will read above the full mark.
pita to take out extra but if it has some insist the dealer do it, it will not burn off...
castro syn or m1 syn at costco and sams clubs for about 3.60 per quart (6 for 22-23$)
filter is assembled for each use and very hard to access (remove belly pan ) so easier to have dealer do, just take the oil. many dealer will give a 10-30% discount on parts for aoa members, so that's the best way to get parts -other than clairparts.com
stardard schedule is very long for all paid service, so you'll likely want to pay for things more ofter. example air filter is 40k or 2-4 years? waaaay to long. fresh air filter is also twice the scheduled time than for the 2000-01 year...
cheers

If it was severely over-filled, ie ½" over max on the dipstick, then it could cause mechanical damage as well, due to the risk of large amounts of oil getting through into the combustion chamber causing the risk of an hydraulic lock = bent con-rod. It will also cause extra oil leaks, over and above the standard Audi OEM ones.
There are three ways of removing some oil - suck some off through the dip-stick tube with a special suction system - some workshops have them, unscrew the oil filter and drain that will remove about ½ pint at a time, or remove the drain plug - this is likely to drop the whole lot.
