windshield replacement
Windshield badly pitted and needs replacement on 01 2.7T. Should I have dealer replace it with Audi glass or can I get more durable glass from independent glass shop? Anyone know of instances where Audi warranty covered this type of replacement? My insurance will cover part (less $250 deductible). Thanks for your input.

Complain to your dealer about the "warped" glass and push for them to cover it fully....
It is the worst glass I've ever seen... I had mine replaced at 20k and now with 55k it's horrible in bright light or rainy nights...
PPG might make a replacement by now - their stuff tends to be the best if you end up gonig that way....

The type of glass you get is personal choice....
I recently had the windshield in my BMW replaced, and I chose to get OEM glass with the factory BMW logo (the glass was ordered through the dealership), but I had a glass shop (Safelite) put it in because I figured that they probably put in as many windshields in one day as the dealer does in a year. OEM glass is thinner than aftermarket glass, and is more likely to crack with a stone impact, but aftermarket glass is heavier, and may slightly reduce performance of your car.
