Default Just bought my first Audi... couple Questions

Just bought a 2000 A6 2.7T with 50k miles on it and i've got 3 questions i would really appreciate if you guys could help me out.
1) its a one owner car and i'm checking for sure but i think he had zero problems with the car. My question for you guys is should I get a warranty for this car if i plan on keeping it for 4 or 5 years? From what I read before purchasing the car it seems like they are either really well built or have many problems, and it definately depends on the car. Prices I was quoted at for the warranty are around $2200.
2) i've never owned a car with turbos before and i really dont want to deal with problems with them. what preventative maintenance should i do to make sure i dont have problems there? Also, i did a search on this, but i want to be 100% sure: do i need to get a turbo timer or does the A6 have a system which will protect the turbos on an un-modded car?
3) I'm going to be gone for 1 month straight this summer and the car will be sitting outside, so i'm looking into getting a car cover. is there a brand any of you recommend for both fit and protection from the crappy Colorado weather? thanks a bunch, i appreciate any help

Kyle

If you don't have a warranty, you better get one ASAP.

If you dont put a chip in the cars engine control unit to increase the horsepower and performance from stock, then you will increase the likelihood that your turbos will remain trouble free..Frequent oil changes and good maintenance habits will also go a long way. There is no question that you should get an extended warranty while you can. Repairs can get expensive.

Default (1) Use synthetic oil. (2) How much would a $5,000 expense hurt you?

Turbos need synthetic. Plain and simple.

The warranty is a good investment if you are afraid or unable to sustain a $5,000 repair bill (or two or three). Warranty is an insurance problem. You will pay $2,200, and the odds are that your claims will be less than that. (The warranty firms understand the odds better than we do.) But you control the downside.

Default My 2000 2.7T w/24k miles had several thousand $ chgd to Audi on my final warranty service...

I'll be very surprised if I don't recoup my $2400 ext warr. outlay in covered repairs over the next 6 yrs/100k miles (whichever comes first). For example, sched maint for the timing belt on my car is 104k. Chances are that it will need replacement sooner than that. Per my warranty contract, it s/b covered as a "repair" as along as I comply with the MFG's req'd maint schedule. Turbos and Tip (lifetime fluid?)are just two of the other very expensive risks assoc. with a car like this.

Default 1) Get the warranty 2) Use synthetic oil 3) See Link

For #3 I recommend the Stormweave fabric. Just make sure your car is EXTREMELY clean before putting the cover on.

http://www.calcarcover.com/car_cover.asp

ok, thanks for the input, i appreciate all the help i can get. I had the car checked at the Audi dealership for free and it passed the entire Audi assured inspection, however since i did not purchase it at the actual dealership i cannot get that warranty. I'll definately look into the warranty, thanks a bunch.
