What to look out for on a '00 2.7T?
I am thinking about purchasing a 2000 A6 2.7T with the 6 speed. I've tried searching on here to find out what to look for, but have not had much success. I am mainly interested in knowing if there were any major problems and what I should look out for when buying.
I think I heard that early '00 models had problems with turbo failure. Is this correct? Does the A6 have the same issues with the control arms that the B5 platform has? I'm sure it is safe to assume that I should look into an extended warranty if reliability is anything like the '97 A4 and '99 Passat I have. Thanks for any and all help.

You want one built after Feb or Mar 2000. You want one still under warranty now so you can stick Audi with any immediate problems. You probably want to purchase an extended warranty. There's a some recall work that hopefully was taken care of - a dealer can look up the car. You probably want to stick the seller with getting you new tires if the originals are still rolling around. And you want a new front bumper cover! Mine has been flawless.

The control arm prob was fixed on both the A4 and A6 in 2000, so that should not be a prob.
The turbo prob is the biggest on the 2000's like with the S4. Turbo failures on stock cars 01-03 are almost non exsistent. I'd get a good warranty. Good luck!!

How could you tell if one of your turbos have failed ? Or if both have failed? What would driving be like? Is there a way to check this?

I posted a question last week about a "moaning" noise coming from my driver's side wheel well. 2.7tdallas mentioned the '00's had tie rod issues, which this might be. I haven't confirmed it yet. 60k miles, 41k of which are mine - no other issues, love the ride.
