Default Performance suspension options?

I'm sure this has been covered a lot before, but I am itching to get rid of the floaty ride on my 2001 A6 2.T. I'm pretty sure it has the factory sport suspension, but I wanna tighten things up.

Can anybody make recommendations on shocks, springs, anti-sway bars, etc?

My new job commute is on a lot of back roads that are curvy and hilly and I just want to feel more in control of the vehicle. I'm willing to sacrifice some of the cushy ride for better handling.

That should give you a good start - then post more specifics.

Default Coilover is the way to go.

I am not saying this because I have them on but because I regret not having them on and now stuck with Eibach and Bilstein combo. The reason is simple, I like the ride/handling of a friends A6 with KW coilover a lot better. First of all, his is adjustable height and firmness. The ride of coilover feel busier but doesn't bounce as much making the car more controlable without harshness. The coilover leans less and I thought handled the larger bumps better is not softer. I thought also for similar set up there seems to have more suspension travel in the coilover system. Just IMO but I wished I had spend a little extra in the begining. Also, I like to lower my front just a bit more which is not possible and like to dial in more oversteer which is not possible unless I make the PSK even thicker but with coilover you just make the rear stiffer. Oh, what flexibility and handling

Default HR Coilovers

It's not cost effective to just do shocks and spring, especially if you plan to change rims etc. Go ahead and do the coilovers, it's labor intensive, so you only want to pay for it once. I ordered my HR's from Europe and saved nearly 300 over the local tuner markup. Part number is 29-482-2. Price is 695 GBP, that's 1,116 USD. A well known local tuner charges 1499 USD for the exact same kit.

Anybody know of a good shop to do suspension mods in the Washington D.C. / Baltimore area?

Default No really, I am in S. Cali area. Just make sure you find shop that

know what you're talking about when you mentioned self-leveling device for headlights. From what I understand it's easily damaged if not careful in dropping the rear chasis. The place I went to does European cars all the time and they learned it the hard way when it comes to this. They demaged the very first A6's headlight leveling thing in the back and ended up had to pay for the replacement which is more than what they charge for the job.
