Default Paint Question

I just had tne bumper cover replaced under the recall. As the paint cures, will it darken in color? My car is silver and the color does not match the main part of the car or the rear bumper. The amount and kind o light also makes a difference. Any suggestions. I am thinking about waiting 2 months before making a decision to have tne dealer repaint or not.

Default silver is the hardest to match. even new cars do not match

pull the car next to a silver one on the lot, THEN bring the service manager over to look

Default Pearl White is even worse.

I've seen a few bad examples of it.

Default We were freaking out at how well the Atlas was matched on my repair today. It was parked in the

sun and freshly washed...there is a lot of metallic-ness in Atlas...approaching a flake. There is zero discernable difference in the repaired area vs. the factory painted area. Silver should be matchable too.

In certain sunlight, the plastic lower parts will appear to be a different hue than the metal painted parts:

See the rear bumper and lower cladding in this shot.

My new 'silver' cover is bluer and less metallic than the body.

Default All metallic paints are virtually impossible to match

The multi-stage pearls finishes are even worse (exactly, good luck repainting pearl white....)
Silver, as one other forum member just mentioned, is one of the worst to-match colors, for sure. You have two problems, here-you are repainting a plastic part to match to the car's metal panels. The paint is simply going to sit and appear differently on the plastic vs. metal (this will be trouble for virtually all colors-I can even see some diffrences on my white Avant, according to lighting). The other problem
is that silver paint has a blue tint component.
It's dark enough, that just a little variation from one batch to the next will produce a noticable difference in hue. Short of repainting the whole car (which is bad idea), I think if you argue for a repaint with the dealer, you will just be drilling yourself into the ground. You may end up with even more significant mismatch than before.

Did they match to the paint batch # found on label in spare tire well?
