approx 45K - Used or new - What would you buy?
Hello,
I am starting to look at what I would get as my next car and I am looking around the 45K price range. The car would be my daily driver.
I guess, I kind of like the compromise of a great sport car and good comfort. There are a lot of completly different cars that I saw as options (I guess, I just love car and because I do not have kids yet and can get a S8 or a Mini Cooper).
If I had the means, the RS6 would be my next car but I am far off $ wise. The M3 is tempting but I have read that the ride is punishing (i.e. very harsh). New S4 could be great but it is not there yet and I have a tendency to buy slighly used car (1 year old or so) to avoid the 1st year depreciation. C32 AMG could seem like a good compromise. S6 looks good too but with no kid, I wish it would available as a sedan.
What would be in your opinion some good options?

don't need kids to appreciate S6, still a sweet ride.
make a list of them,
draw out pluses and minuses and drive them and then see where you're at...
but I wouldn't disregard the S6 because its an Avant.. its one heckuva Avant.

S6 is cool without kids...load it up with bikes or camping gear or what have you. Oh yes, it drives
nice too. Lots of power, suspension is done right, comfy, etc.
I might also consider a new A4 and keep some of the $$....
Probably some nice used P-cars for $45K too! There are not too many used cars that I would be interested in...but I'd definitely consider a used Porsche.

An excellent Q-ship.
Nothing like blowing off ricers in a "station wagon". They wouldn't know what hit'em.
I loved the Avant, only thing it needed was more power. Obviously (from my sig), I wanted to keep it around.

One year old S6 - was recently where you are now and got precisely this car and haven't looked back. If you're willing to stretch the budget a bit, a 2 year old S8 for closer to $50k would be an excellent choice as well.
I also agree with the chorus here - the avant body should not in any way disqualify it since it drives as well as the sedan version would with lots of space.

You need a tricked out 2.7t. Get a 2003, new but with 4yr/40k Audi assured

If you can wait a few months, go for a 2004 S4. Should run $45,000 to $48,000. Although smaller than an A6, more power (340 hp) and much quicker (0-60 in 5.0). I am seriously considering one when my lease is up.
