Think I had an M5 following me tonight. Interesting run.
It was pretty much dark, but it looked quite menacing (in a good way) with the trademark BMW Xenon colour flicker when the angle betwen us changed, and dark blue metallic paint and some massive looking wheels filling the arches. Spotlessly clean too.
I wasn't looking to misbehave, but when you slow down for a 30mph speed limit and some BMW is trying to climb into the trunk, sometimes you just gotta try and put some manners on them, especially when there is no other traffic to get in the way.
The upshot is that despite whatever I may have said before, the RS 6 and M5 might be pretty well matched. He (she?) was able to mostly keep pace with me, sometimes dropping a little way back, sometimes catching a bit back up. Nice cornering as well, certainly on a par with me on a dry road.
We ran for about 10 miles or so, then he turned off the other way from me. He gave me a couple of (presumably friendly) quick flashes of the brights, and I gave him a well-intentioned left, right, left on the indicators.
Nice to have a friendly run, sort of like the Brits and Germans playing football in no-man's land on Christmas Day. That's what being a car enthusiast should be all about!
Thanks for the post!
P.S. My car is repaired; it goes faster now! Somehow, having the car without any dents, freshly washed and with a fresh oil change makes it faster...or me faster in it. Fun stuff.

Of course a clean car is faster. If you wax it really, really well the air slips over it more easily and lowers the drag coefficient...
On the subject of your car, I know others have said this before, but that sig pic really is awesome - car looks fantastic and really stands out. Nice work!
Did you see this link "skiwi" posted over on A8 about short whgeel base and upcoming S8 and RS 8 possibilities?<ul><li><a href="http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?port_code=autoweek&cat_code=car news&loc_code=index&content_code=04968668" >http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?port_code=autoweek&cat_code=car news&loc_code=index&conten
