Advice on new tires...

Well, came out of the mall today and found my right front tire flat! I think it has a slow leak. Funny thing is, that is the spare that I had put on to replace the previous tire that was defective (out of round) about 3 weeks ago! I left defective one as the spare, so now it's on again and the vibration has returned with it!

I am thinking of replacing all 4 Contis with some all weather tires, since I don't have space for summer and winter wheels. I have the 17 inch sport rims, any suggestions?

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

Put a set on my A6 about 2000 miles ago...they're fabulous. Not inexpensive (I paid $271 ea. balanced and mounted, 235/40R18), but so far they seem to be well worth the price.

We use a variation of this tire on our A4, and just bought another set. Only problem...

Any Michelin is a bad choice for low-mileage driving. This is because they become too hard after 3.5 - 4 years (here in San Francisco bay... a bit warm, not much smog). Fine cracks appear and they just don't grip any more. We've replaced two sets of Michelins because of this, before the treadlife was gone. So get them if you expect to drive 30,000 or more in 3 years, but not if you drive less.

I have a 01' 4.2 w/Sport and I run

the factory P6000's. I track a few times a year and I am happy with the prformance. Also am happy with everyday street performance.
There are always better tires, it comes down to: how will you be driving on your new tires?
Just make sure you get the correct speed rated tires.

Bought some last week

I also have a '00 4.2 and replaced the original SP9000's last week. These tires had 30k and were in terrible shape (out of round). I went with Conti ExtremeContact. I couldn't see paying an extra $120 per tire for the Michelin's. I only have about 500 miles on the new Conti's and like them so far. The certainly are the performance tires that the SP9000's were, but I do mostly "real world" driving. BTW, my service advisor told me to get tires at tirerack! Can you believe it. I ordered them online and had the dealer mount, balance, and align.

I have a 2001 4.2 with 13k. The tires are stock p6000.They make a ton of noise. The dealer looked at the car because I didn,t think the tires could make that much noise. They said it was the tires. Has any one had this problem and any thoughts on warranty. My tire guy said that the last thing pirrellies are know for is being noisy.
