Ok, tell me about the tip chips...
Other than holding 1st gear a bit longer, are there any other benefits? Any problems?
And you'll see a good .45 sec gain thru the 1/4.
It also does away with the hesitation you are familiar with. Truly, the TipChip is a huge improvement. Just from speeding up the shifts, and making the car feel much more connected thru the powertrain, it feels like the car has gained a good 30-40 hp. I whoop *** up to 100 now that the ****ty shift from 1st to second is gone, and the 2nd to 3rd shift is so precise it feels as if it is one long gear.
And if you like using the Tip manual mode alot, there's practically zero hesitation - it just pops into the gear regardless of up or down.
I can't stress enough how well worth it this chip is. I bought a used chip from a guy with an S4, had it exchanged at AWE for a new TipChip with the proper programming for my 4.2. I paid $150 for the chip used.
It is very smooth, yet you can tell the shifts happen a little quicker.
If you had never driven the car and then test drove one with the tip chip, you wouldnt even think it was aftermarket. It is that smooth. It just makes the car a little more responsive to your inputs.
Even a newer A6 with the sport mode stuff(DWP's car) noticed right off that the shifts were quicker.
Again, dont expect to race around snapping off the shifts and wiping people out : ), that wasnt the intent when Garrett designed the chip.
Hope that helps

VAG. In my car without the chip the trans will not behave well because of he increased power. It does shorten the time between shifts a little.
