Default Comfortable, quiet, sticky-in-the-wet tire? Suggestions welcome.

After three two-day track events in one year and 10,000 miles of normal driving, my four Bridgestone S-03 tires need to be replaced because they can't be balanced and the tread is shallow. I'm seeking a summer tire that is more comfortable and quieter than the S-03, but has excellent traction on wet roads. The S-03 tires are superb, but though its stiff sidewall helps turn-in, something that the A6 needs, the S-03 is hard riding and noisy. I'm willing to trade some traction for comfort. (I have visited Tire Rack and Googled as well.) Brand and cost don't matter. Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Default Dunlop Sport 9000's are a nice compromise

They are not the best in the dry, especially compared to the S-03's but they are good enough, and are great in the rain, pretty quied, smooth riding and long lasting too.

They may be on the bland side for you given the brands you are looking at, but I've had a few sets for summer use on the street, and they never overwhelm me nor to they grossly disappoint.

They are quite predictable and have a nice, gradual breakaway characteristic in the dry and wet, making them a somewhat boring, but safe tire for spirited street use.

Since you have track time (and driving schools?) under your belt, you might not value these attributes, but for my purposes, these tires are a pretty good compromise.

(they aren't that expensive either)

Just don't go near snow with them!!!

Default Yup, the SP9000 is exactly as you describe. The 8000 is actually slightly more

sporty with a slightly stiffer sidewall and a tad less wet grip, but a great tire for the price.

Default I agree...my impressions also. For everyday use (dry and wet)

the SP 9000s will serve you well. For the occasional track-day/autocross they'll work, but it's not a "strong" point.

Cheers,

Default Toyo Proxes T1-s

Good all around performance tire. Not the most quiet, but I do not think it has been judged noisy. Sublime in wet or dry. Has 280 treadware compound, so it gives up a bit to the softer rubber as far as untimate grip. Amounts to splitting hairs on the street.

I love my Dunlop 9090's. They handle great in dry and wet and are not too loud.
