Default What are the best windshield wipers available...besides the crap stock ones of course?...

During the last rain...I switched on my wipers...a big section of the wiper rubber was cracked apparently, and flew off into the middle of the road. At first I thought it was funny...but...yea.

I need a new set of wiper blades that arent going to streak or crack...at least for a few good years of use. I think this is the second set of wiper blades already.

I remember someone else complaining...I dont mind if they have to be cut to size.

Thanks for the help.

Default The PIAA Silicone wipers are the best I've ever used. (more)

I'm good friends with PIAA's operations manager, and he gave me a set for our SUV. A year and a half now in a climate where it rains a lot, and they are still noise and streak free. Not to mention that the silicon oil that comes with them creates an environment where you don't have to use the wipers as much anyway. (similar to RainX and such) I have them on all our other vehicles now except for the Audi. No connector yet for the 2002 Audi. I'm tempted to get some older wiper blades and put these on. The Audi blades may be free, but in my opinion, you get what you pay for. They suck.

Do they give that "waxed paper" effect that RainX does?

Default Sorry, my experience has been excellent with the stock Audi wipers on 00 4.2A6Q.

I have a hard time paying $25each for the PIAA ripoffs...especially after trying the PIAA blue light special bulbs when one exploded in my H4 Euro light housing.

Default RainX does some weird stuff if you don't wipe it off well, but

works great if applied properly. I once got caught in a rainstorm with bad wiper blades on a staff car. I pulled in under an overpass and applied rainX. I then proceeded to drive home (about 300 miles) without using the wipers once - raining the whole time. I did note that rainX worked better as speeds increased - raindrops just flew off at speeds exceeding 100mph (on damp, not wet, roads and only when safe).

I'd also suggest that you look at wiper blades as being disposable. Change them every half year and the OEM ones are fine.

Wipers are disposable, but here it rains most of the year, and the OEM wipers streaked from day one.

Default I can't speak for the bulbs, but once you try the wipers you'll never go back. Assuming ...

you are in a place where it rains a lot.

Bry:

I have the PIAAs on my A6 and I am not impressed with them. I find them to perform no better than new stock wipers with a fresh coat of Rain-X on the windshield.
