Default A6 Avant in for LQ Recall, Lawn mower issued as loaner.....

I can't recall whether I had ever driven one of of these before, but geez-what a miserable little thing. I can't believe Daimler-Chrysler considers this as acceptable transportation. Last time I had a loaner, it was a brand-new allroad....times are tough.

Default Yup, worst loaner I've ever gotten...

I remember renting one of 'em about 8 years ago and thinking it wasn't so bad...but now it is brutal...gotta love a 3 speed automatic

Default See how the other half lives

Makes you appreciate the four rings even more.

Most folks would be delighted to have a brand new anything, even a Non.

Default I agree with that, but.....

I have driven similar market niche Toyotas, Nissans, Mazdas, etc. They are all well ahead of the Neon in terms of drivability.

Default Shocking!

Is it really surprising that a small Japanese car would actually do its job well? Or that Americans either can't or won't design better cars? I think there's also a residual affection for Chrysler as being an underdog, which of course it hasn't been for some time now.

Thank goodness car rental fleets can be used as dumping grounds. And FWIW, in a recent comparo the semi-racer version of the Neon won against cars like the Focus and Protege.

Default Chrysler Motto: Why make it better than it needs to be?

I think there are still people out there who will buy ****-poor technology (3 speed automatic!?!?) because it is "American."

Chrysler (or Ferd or GM) could build a better car if they wanted to, or had to.

Default Try flooring it at highway speed

I rented one a while back and tried to do a pass at 65mph. Went out in passing lane, floored it and nothing happened.

Default I had an equivalently crappy loaner for the recall...

I'm pretty sure the dealer was being reimbursed by AOA for rentals, so they were keeping the "good" Audi loaners for non recall customers.
