What is the real life mpg difference between 2.8Q12V an 2.8Q30V?
My '99 A6 with quattro and tiptronic runs between 18 and 20 mpg, with record so far of 20.9 mpg.
The biggest issue, though, is the loss of fuel tank capacity. The C4 has/had a 21 gallon tank, the C5 only 18.5 gallons. Whereas I would generally fill up the 100CS at around the 400 mile mark, the C5 gets anxious at around 300.
At 65 mph, the cars were nearly identical.
In daily commuting, the '93 actually did a bit better and even felt more responsive away from a light. but the differences in mileage were still too close (16-18 for both) to say one was any better.
Interestingly, the new allroad with twin turbo, 250hp is getting better commuting mileage than either of the other cars.
