S8 Brakes on A6 2,8?
Does anyone know if it's possible to put the S8 front brakes on a 2,8 Avant?
The reason I'm asking is that my local scrap yard has a 2001 S8 and I'm thinking of buying the brakes.
And if it's possible to retrofit these brakes on my A6 without any bigger modifications, which parts do I need from the S8?

Ask in A8; I doubt it.
Randy Young is really knowledgeable, has an S8, might know. Or PaulW might know; he just replaced his A8 brakes with a BIRA.org Porsche 996tt retrofit.
We'd be interested in knowing the name/location of the salvage yard, over in the A8 forum. I'm sure there are guys who would like to grab some pieces.

Won't work without major modifications
The brakes bolt in radially versus axailly on the S8 so you would need new custom made brackets to mount them.

Then you will need custom rotors most likely because the S8 has a stock wheel offset of 48et and your car has 35et. Plus you might need 18" wheels too.
I put Porsche stuff on my car, see the whole thread below.
The S8 calipers are not monobloc, if you are going to spend the money, buy the Porsche 996TT monoblocs. But I would get a turbo or 4.2 first! ;-)

Check the Stasis <A HREF="http://www.stasisengineering.com/braking.shtml">Street Sport Front</a> for the A6. The Audi Motorsports calipers are the Brembo S8 calipers. If you get a good price from the scrapyard for the S8's calipers, and if you can talk Stasis into selling you everything except the calipers, you might save a couple hundred dollars.
Frankly though, if I was going this brake upgrade route, I'd either buy the complete Stasis kit for the tech and product support, follow Paul's advice on a BIRA Porsche 996TT monobloc, or go with a StopTech kit. All will get you a two piece rotor saving about 10 lb/corner. Also in all cases, confirm that the calipers will clear your wheels.
Last but not least, The S8's Brembo were the first thing I got rid of on my S8. The 2-piece caliper is not particularly rigid, and I wasn't satisfied with the spongy pedal. A comparable Brembo monobloc starts at about $2000 ... each.
