First Impressions - 605 Relay Pulled
So, I printed off the instructions from the tech section and went to work! Removing the relay went well, though at 6'3 I don't have "small hands" and really had to wedge my hand under the dash to get the relay out. I immediately labeled 'up' in case I want to put it back.
First impression is that the steering is a LOT heavier, in fact, heavier than my BMW (which still has a week to go in the lease). If I had to compare it to another vehicle I was familar with, it'd be similar to low-speed steering in the BMW X5. At high speeds I also perceive higher steering effort, but that may just be me.
All in all, I prefer the heavier feel, but think the 'solution' is somewhere in the middle - low speed maneuvers are a little rough without the relay in place.
As mentioned in the FAQ, it didn't cause any errors or warning lights, the only thing I noticed was a 'groan' in the steering at times, but that may have been my imagination.
I'll be driving my bimmer and the audi back and forth over the course of the week and will try to do some more comparison.
