Vibration when idle

Vibration when idle
I am happy to be the new owner of a fine 1998.5 A6 2.8L Quattro for about a week now. Upon driving the car, I notice that the car
1. when cold start, a very sevre vibration develops when idle.
2. after the car been driving for about 10-15 minutes, the whole car shakes when stop at traffic lights...etc.
3. if giving the car a good run, (> 60mphs for at least 10-15 minutes), the vibration will then be minimal when stop at lights/traffic.
After reading the FAQ, I'm on my second bottle of Techron to see if it clean up any possible carbon build up.
What else could contribute to this problem?

What kind of gas are you using?
I notice when I use Shell, more studder at idol. With BP Amoco it runs better and every now and then I use Mobil which is fine as well. Could be as simple as a bad batch of gas perhaps.

So far, I had 3 tanks of gas, all of different brand.
1. Texco (12 gl)
2. Mobil (12 gl w/ Techron)
3. Shell (12 gl w/ Techron)
I don't think I notice any different in the level of the shaking between tanks. Only after driving for a period of high speed cruising seems to help.

Thanks folks, I just ordered the BG44K as well. I am going to do the 60K service in teh next 2 weeks so will have the s. plugs replace then. [I'm going to get it done @ SRS] as most here recommended!
BTW, since I jsut ran 2 bottle of Techron, am I too aggressive in pouring in another can of BG 44K? which won be here for another 2-3 weeks but I really want to use it before the 60K and timing belt....etc surgery.
