I have had 4 of the black plastic skid plates rip off or shatter. poor installation/something else?

I have had 4 of the black plastic skid plates rip off or shatter. poor installation/something else?
the skid plates keep coming off no matter who installs them. ive tried using 12 gauge wire to larger washers and still no improvement. any suggestions?

i dont really use them as skid plates i just call them that. i do spend a decent amount of time driving on gravel. any way to get a stronger one?
