Ok, another Off-Topic...it's nearly official...we have almost done the deal in Scottsdale...
First house...custom on Eagle Mountain golf course...our builder flaked out on us and suddenly stopped communicating with us...very bizarre, don't know what happened...but we suspect he showed the plans (that I helped design) to a prospective customer and was offered more money than the verbal deal we had. Either way...don't care...don't wanna deal with someone who is dishonest no matter how awesome the house and the surroundings were gonna be...
Second house (2 days ago)...the wife and I flaked out on on the plane last night and decided to bail...too big of a house (4700 sq-ft), too far away from downtown Phoenix (34 miles), with too much work to do ourselves to avoid paying $200k in upgrades from the track-builder to make it appropriately appointed for the sick-a*s gorgeous house that it is...
Third house...just bought it this morning...over the phone...wiring the deposit...only 3550 sq-ft, custom builder (although already 70% done)...we finish everything the way we want...not from some lame track-builder minimal choice sheet but anything from anywhere in the country/world/galaxy...etc...only "top quality" like Waverly from 'Joy Luck Club'

Best of all...we are 'only' 25 miles from downtown...but located within Troon North, which is essentially "heaven on golf courses", although not on the course itself...but I get resident priveledges for 'cheap' golf!
Gotta see what the final budget is...but it looks like a GTI for me...I'm broke

Is there a basement that you'd like to rent? We looked at some nice 1,700 sq ft places in the $600K+ range last weekend. I'm wondering how long I'll continue to live in the Bay Area....
