Fog lamp Bulbs
Then, is it worth while to just change both to match the xenons and what do I buy and from where? Preliminary research points to PIAAs. Are they good? for 60.00 a pair? Will they match the white/blue of the xenons?
The method of removing them that I mentioned worked for my 2001; there may be changes on other years... can't say for sure.
There are several sources and messages listed here:<ul><li><a href="http://www.netwiz.net/~jds/files/a6_links.html#lamps">http://www.netwiz.net/~jds/files/a6_links.html#lamps</a</li></ul>
for the pre-02 cars, it is a simple question of finding the release bars on the fog grills, located just forward the inside edge of each fog lamp. Push them in carefully with a small screw driver, and carefully work and pop out the grills. You will see four screws: three of them are the screws that hold the fog housing in place in it's mount. The other, larger screw, is a beam leveling adjuster-don't touch that one. Carefully unscrew all three points, cradle the housing in your hand so that it does not drop, and unplug the harness plug that is on the back of the housing. Getting at the bulb requires opening up and separating the two halves of the housing via the screws found on the back of the housing. It will be pretty self-explanatory, once you get the housing in your hand.
As for the PIAA super-whites, yes, I agree those are the best for matching Xenon. I have done the same.
