Default Fog lamp Bulbs

Need to replace one of the fog lamp bulbs and would appreciate any help from people who have changed this - where and how does one get to the bulb? I tried a few simple approaches and cannot even get to the back part of the fog lamps. How ?
Then, is it worth while to just change both to match the xenons and what do I buy and from where? Preliminary research points to PIAAs. Are they good? for 60.00 a pair? Will they match the white/blue of the xenons?

Default PIAA Super Plasmas are the best match for the Audi Xenon headlights.

Default Get the lamps out from the front, then remove round back....

I think the lamps went from type H3 to H7 in 2002 (and later).

The method of removing them that I mentioned worked for my 2001; there may be changes on other years... can't say for sure.

There are several sources and messages listed here:

http://www.netwiz.net/~jds/files/a6_links.html#lamps</a

Default You have to physically remove the fog lamp housings from the car

A couple comments just mentioned by others, here-perhaps 2002 housings are different because of the bulb change (pre-2002 cars had fog housings which used a projector optic, 2002 cars/up have a relector array). It is probably the the same procdure to remove-(and if I am not in error, I think there is actually a detailed article in the tech section, describing removal). In any case,
for the pre-02 cars, it is a simple question of finding the release bars on the fog grills, located just forward the inside edge of each fog lamp. Push them in carefully with a small screw driver, and carefully work and pop out the grills. You will see four screws: three of them are the screws that hold the fog housing in place in it's mount. The other, larger screw, is a beam leveling adjuster-don't touch that one. Carefully unscrew all three points, cradle the housing in your hand so that it does not drop, and unplug the harness plug that is on the back of the housing. Getting at the bulb requires opening up and separating the two halves of the housing via the screws found on the back of the housing. It will be pretty self-explanatory, once you get the housing in your hand.

As for the PIAA super-whites, yes, I agree those are the best for matching Xenon. I have done the same.
