Default Replaced Front Headlight- can't get last screw in (need help)

I replaced the passenger side front headlight on my '98 A6 (Can't even begin to describe what a pain in the **** it was), but now I can't get the final screw in the bottom of the light. I can see where Audi drilled a hole in the fender to insert a screw driver but I can't get the screw lined up (which is now lost). Anyone ever deal with this? Easy fix?

Default you need to be like macgyver!

I fastened a long extender to my ratchet and then attached my torx bit to that, then i taped the bolt to the end of the bit...when i got the bolt 'in the hole' and tightened it, the tape pulled right off and tada!

I wouldnt tighten the bolts until you have the headlight seated correctly though...there is a little play so make sure your headlight is lined up correctly.

hope this helps!

Default How do you get the nut underneath? The top two brackets you can screw right in. The bottom one is-

missing a nut or something.

Default there are 4 bolts (please dont call them nuts...HA!)...

are you referring to the one thats behind the light (accessable through the hole in the quarter panel)? Or the bolt thats adjacent to the radiator and covered up by the black plastic peice?

You shouldnt be missing a bolt...If you are you should head over to the dealer and pick a new one up.

Default well now im confused...did you strip the hole?

there shouldnt be a nut that the bolt fastens to if i remember correctly...it should screw right into the threaded hole.

i could be wrong here, but it sounds like youre SOL...id ask the dealer or someone with the Bentley Cd that could look it up for you.

Default I did the EXACT same thing. There is this little clip that attaches to the plastic mount point.

I popped it off and had to dig it out of the belly pan. I'm sure the dealer will have them though. Explaining it to the parts guy is the hard part ; )

Good Luck.

Default I had exactly the same proplem this weekend - I had to jiggle

the bolt around. I removed the back cover and the signal light holder, and got my other hand in there. With the help of a flashlight sitting on the airbox, I was able to peek at the bolt in a very narrow area.
The "nut" is a metal clip, so the threads are very thin. I used my knee to move the headlight around until it bit... No forcing is required!
