Oil Filter questions for 2001 A6 4.2

Just changed my oil on Saturday it is on the passenger side
right behind the alternator. It is a little bit of a pain to get off but not too bad. I recommend you get a very high capacity oil pan if your changing your own oil or be prepared to face a huge mess. 8 Quarts comes out very quickly. Definitely twice the work to change the oil on this car vs my 2.8.

You have to be directly under the car with the belly pan removed to see it at all. It is high up as you reach from underneath, mounted in a sideways position with the thread side toward the rear. You have to kind of steer it past some nearby components to remove it, but it does come out directly.

The filter is accessible only from the bottom of the car, it sits under....
the RHS exhaust manifold. Looking up from the bottom of the car you should see part of it on the passenger side. It runs parallel to the engine block with the mounting point towards the front of the car (it needs to be pulled out towards the rear).
