Anyone know the oil capacity of the 2001 6-spd trans?

You have quattro, correct? 2.9 quart fill (it might be litres). People have said to buy 3 qts for
doing fluid change on tranny/transaxle unit and 1.9 qts for rear differential. I will check the archives now and make sure...I will post confirmation!

Look in the Tech section under Misc. A guide for doing transaxle and rear diff will be the 1st two
articles on the list! That says 2.9 quarts for transaxle and 1.9 quarts for rear diff. This Tech section write-up is for an A4, which is the same as an S4 and I'm assuming that the A6 should be the same capacity; (but I wouldn't bet a paycheck on it).

According to Bentley...
Code letters EDU - 2.3 liters.
Code letters EEY and EHS - 3.6 liters (this includes 0.3 liters for transmission oil cooler and lines).
My MY2000 took about 2.1 liters when I changed. I suspect a residual 0.2 liters remained in the tranny. I could be wrong, but I think the EDU tranny was only on MY2000.

My assumption was trans fluid or "oil" for the trans since he gave details on the tranny only.
If he would have given engine details, then I would have guessed engine oil capacity. But that is just the way I thing - I figured he knew that engine oil capacity depends only on the actual engine, doesn't matter what tranny is connected as far as I know. Too much brevity leads to unclear communications on this forum! As you can see, brevity was never my strong point! ;-P
